13th December 2006 Senator Ian Campbell Ive read that you had a strong reaction upon visiting the rock carvings and understand their incredible heritage significance. It could open up the way for independent authorities to finally carry out a proper inventory of the site and for the country to properly learn about these stunning images of early Australia. It could bring about the establishment of an inclusive management committee, which in particular involves the various custodian groups of Murijuga in a meaningful and empowering way. You could go down in the history books as the first politician to have the courage to encourage both the preservation and development of Western Australias many treasures, instead of pitching them against each other. I would be behind you brokering this shift in thinking, once and for all. Please save our precious heritage which is a vital part of our countries history. Yours sincerely,
